With over a decade of combined experience in the solar industry, NuSolar is committed to continue raising the standard of quality workmanship and friendly service.  Owned and operated out of Edmonton Alberta Canada, we service the central Alberta area. 

Our​ Goal

To be a friendly, knowledgeable solar PV resource, providing cutting edge solar systems that meet the specific needs of our clients, whether big or small, commercial or residential. ​

Our Origin 

Tom & Cody, were both born into loving, compassionate & disciplined families. With this foundation laid, they grew into individuals with high moral & ethical standards leading them to humanitarian goals. Facing a world with growing pollution, resource & quality of life issues associated with climate change. It was clear to both Cody & Tom that dedicating their lives to resolve these problems, would be honorable, impactful & important. 

They both were raised with a love for the outdoors, especially with the beauty of Alberta’s Parks close by & visited regularly with family & friends. It is important to NuSolar to be able to leave behind the same beautiful world to the next generation, solidifying their stand & motivation in the both the renewable energy & energy efficiency sectors.

NuSolar was founded with the simple goal of wanting to make the world a better place, but let’s be honest working with some of the most rapidly advancing technology is also extremely cool & exciting!

About Cody
Born in the heart of the west side of Edmonton, Cody has grown with the city in his heart. His love, appreciation & respect for the city & people in it is immense. That love has only grown stronger, coming of age in a time when the local government & their goals for an environmentally responsible future have developed alongside & in line with his own. Together he believes Edmonton residents will strive to be a simmering paragon leading the new age in sustainability & inspire others to follow. 

Cody’s education, aptitude & technical understanding allow him to make quick work of solving problems both on & off site. He is a nationally recognized red seal journeyman electrician, alternative energy technologist, and has taken courses on passive house standard building. He is excited & passionate about reducing energy consumption & local sustainable energy generation to meet the overarching goal of global sustainability. Cody has had the privilege to have been involved with the development & construction of over 2 MW of solar PV; whether your project is grid-tied, off-grid or grid-hybrid, he is your solar guy and then some. 

Cody also learned to grow & harvest, with frequent visits to his grandparent’s farm. These roots deepened his passion for the environment & importance having the same magnificent natural world to leave behind for the next generation. Cody continues to take pride in growing his own vegetables in the raised garden beds his has built at home with a rain water capturing system. Cody also installed a PV system on his home (with Tom), reach out to him to get a firsthand look at how to start your sustainable lifestyle.

Outside of the joy & pride associated with helping others, Cody has always been a competitor, involved with sports throughout his life with a brief varsity career. He knows what it is to win, to lose & most importantly that a champion isn’t defined by the scoreboard at the end of the game, but who lays it all on the line. No matter what he is doing, he always gives it his complete focus, ability & attention. Cody understands teamwork & that humanity needs to rise together to face the lurking problems associated with climate change.

About Tom
Tom comes from a large family of carpenters and cabinet makers and has over 5 years of experience working in wood working construction.  During his time as a cabinet maker Tom learned the importance of the look and quality of a finished product for the customer and was taught to never settle for anything less than the highest standards. Tom spent many years with his father’s cabinetry company where he found his passion for working & creating with his hands. He also gained valuable understanding of how to own and operate a business as his father ran a successful cabinetry company, but also as he watched most of his siblings start their own business ventures.

Tom’s growing curiosity for renewable energy, love for the outdoors and his concern for environmental impacts all caused Tom to leave the long time family business to search for his new life purpose.  After receiving his Alternative Energy Technologist Diploma and becoming an indentured Electrician, Tom truly has found his life purpose and couldn’t be happier.  For Tom, helping people to meet their dreams of producing their own clean renewable electricity from the sun is a satisfying and joyful experience, and knowing the role each of those systems play in the bigger effort to obtain global sustainability is priceless.  Tom has also had the privilege to be involved in the development & construction of solar PV systems in Cuba.

Tom makes it a high priority to live a balanced lifestyle by spending time with family, friends and his girlfriend.  Playing music, healthy eating and running half marathons are all contributors to Tom’s friendly, enthusiastic and energetic personality.  Tom truly believes that innovation and insight come from a balanced lifestyle and when the mind has had a chance to unwind and relax.

Alternative Energy Technologists

The alternative energy technology program is a 2 year diploma course from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.  This program is packed with theory and practicals covering site assessments, design, installation, troubleshooting and hybridization of multiple renewable energy technologies.
